Project Details
Objective 1:
As per the Paris agreement (2016), as we are bound to reduce the emissions, this can be achieved by creating a smart city having the following facilities at large
1. Adaptation of large-scale electric vehicle (EV) in transport sector.
2. Creating the charging infrastructure (from renewables) for EVs
Increasing the use of Electric Vehicles (EVs) to reduce the pollution in the city like Delhi, the prime bottleneck is the availability of charging infrastructure. The development and deployment of DC fast chargers across the city will encourage the adoption of EVs for private and public transport. A prime thematic problem which is to be solved to have a smart, sustainable and secure EV infrastructure in the city is
? Optimization of EV charger placement in the city
? Creation of Charging Infrastructure with utilization of renewables (solar power).
Objective 2: Creation of an efficient EV charging ecosystem will encourage the users to adopt Evs. But one of the major concern for the 2 and 3 wheelers are the range anxiety. To reduce the range anxiety and to facilitate reduction of charging time “Battery Swapping” is an attractive choice. The push for EV adoption can only be successful, if these objectives can be achieved and the user is at comfortable position. Few examples in this regard is the Battery Swapping station adopted by Sun mobility. Uber has already announced to bring in battery-swapping auto-rickshaws in several cities and Ola Electric plans to put one million EVs on Indian roads by 2022. Bothe these aim to set up an EV ecosystem involving battery swapping stations.
The objective of this work package is to have a feasibility study of battery swapping technology for Delhi cluster, in particularly for the densely populated area. To fulfill the objective of effective and efficient battery swapping, an accurate estimation of SOC and SOH of Li – Ion battery is a prime concern. Our focus will be the development of suitable techniques to measure the SOC and SOH for the Li – Ion battery pack particularly keeping in mind the climatic condition and road condition of Delhi.
